Wedding Wednesday - Our Proposal Story

by Emily Williams in

B TOTALLY surprised me when we were back home in Arkansas for my little sister's high school graduation last May and proposed! I knew we would get engaged sometime soon, but never in a million years did I expect him to propose in front of the fam and when I was dressed to go to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

My Dad got home from work on that Tuesday and asked if we wanted to go eat at Doe's Eat Place in Greenville, Mississippi right across the river from my families home on the lake in Arkansas. I was so excited because Y'ALL - Does is SO GOOD. So I called first shower - I'm the second of four girls.. so this is crucial. After getting ready and changing from something cute to the random green sweater and navy pants I had on... I went to hang out with B outside. He grabbed a couple beers and we went down to sit on the swing by the lake. He was being so weird and I had the sun in my eyes because I had forgotten my sunglasses. When I told him I was going to go grab my sunglasses and come back, he got up with me and then dropped to one knee. To say I was speechless is an understatement! He said lots of very sweet things that made me tear up and then popped the question. It took me a second to say yes because I was busy dancing. We stood there and kissed, hugged, and talked a little bit before he said, "Well let's go tell everyone!" I was in shock that he hadn't told my anyone...which of course he had!

Little did I know that my Dad had taken pictures of the whole thing and everyone ran out from the house to share a congrats toast with us!

The bling! B got me a beautiful cushion cut center stone in a pretty halo setting. He designed it himself and it took five months for the entire process. He worked with Vicky, from May Jewelers in Tysons Corner, VA right outside of DC. I am 99% sure he drove her crazy, but it was worth it! I couldn't be happier with the ring he designed!

Family toast time! My Dad and Step-Mom gave B and I the glasses they used at their wedding to toast with. So fun! {Obvi, I had cried all my make-up off! So I ran up to change!} B and my Dad had watched the weather reports to time the entire evening perfectly with the sunset. I was told to go change so we could take some sunset lake pics!

Still in shock!
