Our wedding flowers were the one thing I knew I was going to splurge on. I worked at a florist in high school and loved going into work everyday! Fresh flowers are something I try to keep in our house and doing floral design is my favorite hobby!
My bouquet was white and pink peonies, peach Juliet garden roses, silver brunia, lambs ear, and dusty miller. B knew I wanted peonies, so we picked a date in May so they would be is season. Peonies are a spring flower! I also wanted a little color and some white since my dress was blush. The peaches, pinks, and white really played well with my dress. Dusty miller added some nice color and I wanted lambs ears since my Mom grew it in our back yard growing up. I always loved picking it!
Loved my bouquet so much! Southern Event Planners did an amazing job!
B and I both wanted to incorporate cotton into the wedding, so we had it in a few arrangements and his boutonniere. Being in the Mississippi River Delta in Memphis and growing up in Arkansas, cotton has always been a huge part of my life! Loved that he wanted to incorporate it in our big day.
I told the ladies at Southern Event Planners that I would get them plenty of cotton to use, but was nicely turned down. Apparently, they had previously done a wedding and used cotton the bride brought them and it ended up having bugs in it! Eek! So, if you use cotton, have your florist order it to be on the safe side!
The bridesmaid bouquets were exactly as I pictured them! The had broken up white hydrangeas, juliet garden roses, stock, asilibe, spray roses, Queen Anne's lace, and lambs ear. So pretty! Some great advice I learned a long time ago is that the brides bouquet should be the size of a dinner plate and the bridesmaids bouquets should be the size of a salad plate. The sizing works out perfectly!
I wanted to have table scapes instead of one huge arrangement on each table. I knew I wanted soft lighting from candles with gold and peach incorporated. Angela from Southern Event Planners designed some great ones with mercury glass and tons of gold!
At the top of the stairs I wanted a big arrangement to pop where we were standing. I asked for lots of movement and the hanging greenery and tulips made it perfect!!
We also wanted a large backdrop so there was a place to stop and for us to stand while getting hitched. I asked for white linens with huge floral tie-backs. We moved our cake in front of it for our reception. I asked and they delivered! I love the look with the sun coming though and later how our cake looked in front of it. Hope you didn't miss that post last week!
